Nice 2 Know:

Strange but true: in 1966 the FIFA chose Italy as the host 16 years before the 1982 World Cup started. + + + The first round playing against Austria from Germany went a "non-aggression pact of Gijon" in history, as both teams progressed with a 1-0 by Germany, which has probably been agreed upon. + + + In the match between France and Kuwait whistled a spectator. The team from Kuwait stopped playing. France achieved so easily the 4:1. A sheik threatened the referee to stop playing if he would approve the goal. He did so. France scored the 4-1 again. The referee has been suspended, the sheikh had to pay a heavy fine. + + + The later world champion Italy survived the first round without a win, but reached the next round in second place with 5 Draws. + + + In contrast, England lost in the second round, although they had not lost a match before.
