This is the 1958 World Cup match Schedule with information about the 6th Football World Cup for viewing and printing. The final tournament of the 6th Football World Cup was held from the 8th to the 29th of June 1958 in Sweden.

50 teams played during the qualification for the 14 places for the final tournament. Defending champion West Germany and the host country Sweden - were directly qualified. In the final tournament 16 teams then played in 4 groups of 4 teams. It was followed by the knockout round. This began with the quarter-finals. The current record world champion Brazil won the World Cup final with a 5-2 over host country Sweden. This was the first world championship title for Brazil.

The host country Sweden was the only candidate to host the 1958 World Cup. Only a few countries were willing this at all in the postwar period in Europe. Sweden was also neutral in this war. +++ In the group stage there were 3 Play-off matches between equally ranked teams. +++ The future football legend Pele took part at age 17 as the youngest player. He became a superstar in this World Cup with a spectacular 3-1 final hit. +++ The French top scorer Just Fontaine placed a record with 13 goals, which has not been still achieved. +++ The World Cup 58 was the first to be televised on all continents, in parts even broadcasted live. Later on the entire World Cup was shown as a documentary in cinemas.
