This is the 1954 World Cup match Schedule with information about the 5th Football World Cup for viewing and printing. The final tournament of the 5th Football World Cup, which is known in Germany as the "Miracle of Bern", was held from 16th of June up to 4th of July 1954 in Switzerland.

As defending champion Uruguay and the host country Switzerland were qualified directly. 36 teams played in the qualification for the remaining 14 places in the final round. The 16 national teams contested the final torunament in group matches and then in playoffs. If there was a tie in the group table, a lot was drawn, to decide who comes into the quarter-finals. For the 2nd place in the groups if necessary a play off was held. World champion 1930 surprisingly became the underdogs of Germany, coached by legendary coach Sepp Herberger.

For the first time people could watch a live broadcast of the World Cup on television. +++ The World Champion 1954 Germany could win the tournament as an underdog with a 3-2 win over title favorite Hungary in the final of Bern. The final match or the first World Championship title in Germany were known as the "Miracle of Bern", because the Germans could look for the first time after the lost war and the punishments of postwar period in a brighter future. +++ It is worth noting that the soccer shoes with removable studs, by Adolf "Adi" Dassler developed, should have given an advantage to the German team on the soggy course. The nylon studs were used not only about half as heavy as the leather studs of the Hungarians, they probably offered a better attitude and they did not became dirty. +++ The German team was also the only one that traveled with a team bus from match to match.
